Help a dog in need–be a foster parent!

Foster homes are needed to provide temporary housing for:

  • Dogs with medical issues who are being treated by the shelter’s Best Friends’ Medical Relief Fund
  • Moms with nursing litters or orphaned puppies less than 8 weeks old
  • Dogs awaiting transport to an approved rescue or transfer to another shelter
  • Adoptable dogs when the shelter is at capacity to avoid euthanasia due to space limitations

How do I get started?

To foster a Cuyahoga County shelter dog, you must attend a volunteer orientation and be a current volunteer in good standing. You will meet with one of the shelter supervisory team to determine what type of dog/puppy would be most suitable for your situation.
