Adoption’s a Great Option!

We adopted Callie about 8 and a half years ago, just before you moved to the new shelter. She has been a wonderful addition to our family and we are so happy that we made the decision to adopt.
Unconditional Love

A pet provides unconditional love to a household. Rescuing an animal from a shelter is a way to secure that love and give an animal another chance! I recently began volunteer work for the Hands On Northeast Ohio group. I was not sure what to expect from the dog shelter. The Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter impressed me! The dogs were well groomed, exercised, fed and appeared to be taken care of. When I was walking down the aisle, I spotted a Husky mix, 4 year old girl named Sylvia or #11. I instantly feel in love. My husband and I went to the shelter to get a better idea of what type of dog she was the following weekend. She took to my husband quickly and in my heart I knew she would be our dog! I fought for #11 by means of writing a letter to our apartment complex and asked for her to be adopted. Originally, I was told no, because of the extensive list of dogs that are “not allowed” on the property. However, I would not take no for a response. My letter went to the corporate office and then the phone call came! We were told Sylvia was adoptable and to go forth with the adoption. She officially became ours at the end of May. #11 has become our Sasha and now sleeps in peace in her pink and brown bed with her toys. We are SO thankful to have saved her life and given her a second chance…she too is thankful and provides us with plenty of love, wet kisses and hand shakes!
