Successful Santa Photos 2009
Date posted: January 12
The Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter has so many people to thank for their help and support to make our annual Santa Photos and the Raffle Baskets such an outstanding success. Without people like these we could never have accomplished so much, but more importantly, it’s all the dogs who will benefit by being able to get the special care and medical treatment that they deserve and so badly need to be able to find a new family to love and have a second “leash” on life. Thanks to all who we acknowledge here and thanks to all those who worked so tirelessly and diligently behind the scenes. If, unfortunately, there is anyone who we missed we sincerely apologize. Each and every one of you was essential to our success and we looking forward to working with all of you again in the future. You are all very special and an important part of our Shelter.
Thank you to Dick Goddard for joining us for one of our photo sessions. He is a joy to have around and brings such enthusiasm and a sense of humor along with his contagious love for animals! His support of our Shelter in so many ways is extraordinary and appreciated more than ever!
The outstanding and first class photos were the result of the hard work, long hours, dedication and donations of Barb Wible, our photographer. Anyone who had pictures taken by Barb is aware of the outstanding quality of those photos, which will become a lasting memory for you and your dog. Barb was so fortunate to have a group of volunteers who assisted her with her endeavors to make her work a little easier. Among those: Steph Hulett was the one who greeted and welcomed everyone at the door when they came in, and Lynn Jewell (along with Logan!) brought out the best in the dogs as they visited with Santa and all the rest who helped in any way. To all who helped with the photos – thank you!
Of course no Santa photos would be possible without Santa! We had two Santas who were so patient and also took so much time with each and every one of the dogs who came to visit with them. We thank them for sharing their personal time and talents with us: Tim Stys and Aldo Melaragno. In addition, Lisa Alexander the elf was a wonderful addition to the photos, and Veronica Waclawik, Santa’s personal assistant, kept him looking his best no matter how big a dog was on his lap!
A huge thank you to the many volunteers who worked behind the scenes and in the building to facilitate our unexpected crowds. We understand that some customers had to wait a long time but these wonderful people helped with all the coordination to make this all happen as smoothly as it did, and made the wait worthwhile.
We thank Cuyahoga County for their assistance in getting the information out: Central Services (Jay Ross, Director) for giving us the leeway and support to be able to have functions such as this, Information Services Center (Debbie and her staff) for posting the information on the county website, Printing and Reproduction (Mary, Maria and Jon) for printing the flyers for distribution, and the County Events Committee (Linda) for distributing the information through county offices, and all the county employees who joined the festivities and helped with the raffle baskets (Janet and Ellen).
The list of donors for the baskets and refreshments is posted on our homepage. Anyone who bought tickets for the baskets and especially those that were fortunate to win one realizes the quality of donations that were in each and every basket. The donations of food and beverages were very much appreciated by the people who came for photos, the volunteers and the staff!
