Lost Your Dog?
Here are some of the ways that we work to reunite you with your pet…
- We maintain a bulletin board where notices of lost and found dogs are placed and checked daily by our staff.
- Notices in the daily newspaper are monitored and a special flyer with detailed information is given to each visitor looking for their missing companion.
- A daily log is kept of each incoming dog. This includes a description of the dog and the location they were found.
- To assist with the very large number of calls, a computerized list is updated daily with details on every dog housed in our kennel.
Some things that you can do…
- Try to remain calm
- Check in with us at (216) 525-PUPS. Be prepared to provide a license number, name and description.
- Create flyers and post them in the area your pet was lost and near your home. Bold, readable type is best. Be sure to include:
- The pet’s name
- A description (size, color, sex, markings, etc) and/or picture
- How to contact you
- Any reward (consider offering one.)
- Check with neighbors
- Check with the police and/or the APL
- Check the “Found” ads and place a “Lost” ad in The Plain Dealer (216/999-5555). Also check your local newspapers.
- Call all animal wardens and agencies of all surrounding suburbs. Because many of these numbers are police emergency numbers, keep the call short. Give time & place lost, breed, color, sex, size, age, & any type of identification. Be sure to call back if you find your dog.
