Let our local homeless dogs become your new FURever friend!
Trooper has gained 7 pounds since we brought him home! No more ribs sticking out! He is filling out very nicely! Boy does he get excited when it is breakfast and dinner time! Walking in circles and slobbering all over the place… he LOVES to sleep on the couch, usually on Lucas’ or my lap. He tends to think he is a lap dog, and not a 51 pound Boxer! He seems to be very happy and is doing well on the Rimadyl pain medicine the shelter sent us home with. We have been continuing with that medicine and his hip seems to not bother him. Trooper loves to run out in the field… he acts like he doesn’t have a bad hip AT ALL! We just wanted to send you a message because before we left we told all the volunteers we would send an update. Sorry it has taken so long! Trooper is great very happy little boy! He is a pleasure to have in our home and EVERYDAY brings a smile to our face with his little underbite and tongue sticking out. He always greets us at the door with his little docked tail wagging around like crazy! He is our little Troopy Doo! Thanks so much for all you have done for us in keeping contact with us while Trooper was at the shelter.
I adopted Ophelia (kennel #14) from CCAS back in April of this year. I found Ophelia on Petfinder. I was looking for a dog but not really sure, I never had a dog before. I drove down from Erie, PA the following day just to meet her. It was like love at first sight. I wanted to take her then but I was told no she had to be spayed first….So I would have to return the following week after her surgery to pick her up and I did. I kept the name Ophelia, thought it suited her, but for the most she goes by O. O has been such a blessing in my life, she is such a great companion, she is everything and more that I thought I wanted in a dog. Ophelia loves to go bye byes. She and I go for long walks, to the woods running or to the peninsula where she loves to swim. O is a natural, she swims like a fish. Ophelia gets along with my three cats, plus everyone she comes in contact with. You can see how content she is with everything. It’s like she is so thankful for her second chance. Everyone that meets my little O will tell me how lucky I am to have gotten such a great dog-my reply-I KNOW. Love her to pieces!!!!! Can’t imagine life without her. ADOPT DON”T SHOP!!!!!!!!!

I adopted Adakais (formally known as Stretch) in May of 09, and over a year later, I couldn’t be more happy with him. At first I thought I was getting in over my head, being a cat person, but he’s a perfect companion. |
| We came to the shelter and just totally fell in love with her. They told us she had been there since May and was missing her eye due to being hit by a car. We couldn’t bare to leave her so we adopted her. Now she is with us in her forever home…now she’s our little Snookie. Snookie is adjusting very well and is loving all the attention she is getting. The staff was very helpful and answered all of our million and one questions. I can tell when we were leaving certin staff members were gonna miss her, but we’ll come back and visit and keep everyone updated on how she’s doing. Thank you. | ![]() |

I adopted Shadow approximately six months ago and it was the best decision I have ever! He has brought me so much joy and unconditional love, uncomparable to anything else. I cannot thank you enough for bringing him into my life! |
| A friend was fostering Bosley and let us know he was looking for a home. We met him and immediately fell in love. He is a great companion to me and my husband. He loves to take walks and check out his new neighborhood. He also goes crazy for peanut butter. He’s doing great and is a wonderful, loving animal. He already knows how to sit, stay, give paw, and has gotten much better on a leash. So good in fact he has become my running partner. We wanted to thank you for taking such good care of Bosley while he was with you. Its obvious to me you showed him the love and kindness he deserved and we’re thrilled to provide him with a permanent home. | ![]() |

It will be 2 years at the end of September since I adopted Mylo (which stands for My little one). He has been a wonderful addition to the family. He became fast friends with my other dog Abby. Thank you so very much Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter for bringing Mylo in to mine and Abby’s life. It’s been totally unconditional love right from the very beginning! |
Hi, back in 2001, I adopted a dog from you. She just passed away unexpectedly a couple of weeks ago, but she was the best dog ever and I wanted to share her story. On 9/7/01, my house was broken into and I was like,.. “that’s it,.. I’m getting a dog to watch the place when I’m not home!” I came down down on the 8th and spoke with one of your counselors. She showed me a female, shepherd/chow mix, estimated between four and ten months old that was picked up off of the street around W. 40th and Clark. She said that once she would get spayed and figure out that me and the house were hers, no one would ever break in! I had never owned a female before and asked one of my friends what to name her. She suggested Milagro which is the Spanish word for Miracle. Tuesday, was 9/11. When I called to find out what was happening, they said you were evacuating the building but the doctor was going to stay and finish the surgery, but I would have to wait to pick her up. So Milagro it was!
Listen, I had her in Cleveland until 2005 when work moved me to Charlotte, NC. Then in 2006 we moved to Atlanta, GA. Every place I lived, she was in the window, watching me leave, waiting for me to come home. No one, ever, broke into my house again. I just want to thank you so much for being there when I needed you (it was the old building on Wiley Ave!). Please continue the work. I am deeply saddened by the loss of my long time friend, but it was a incredible journey that I couldn’t have done without her!
