Ceasar FoundCaesar is found safe and sound, back at his palace with his Dad. THANK YOU so much to everyone for all of your efforts.

Matt, Caesar’s Dad, got a call from the Shaker Hts/Oakwood Dog Warden advising that they believed they had his dog at the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter in Valley View. Matt was at work so he called Lilly and I to go and see if it was in fact Caesar. We got to the shelter shortly around noon and discovered that it was him! Staff told us that Caesar was found in Shaker Hts on Sunday 7-18-10 (he ran away or was taken 7-17-10/ 8:30pm) and transported to the Shelter by Oakwood’s Dog warden on Monday. By luck a worker at the shelter named Larry remembered seeing one of our color reward flyers that had been faxed or emailed in and put two and two together when he was cleaning the “Pit” section. Larry said that this was not his “usual” job and it was pure luck that he had just happened to see the flyer. Larry also said that Caesar was due to be euthanized in two days (7-24-10) if no one had claimed him by then.

MapA celebration in honor of his return, including a corn hole tournament with proceeds benefitting the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter and the Euclid Pound, was held this Saturday at Dave’s house. Also, a cute picture of Caesar, his dad, and uncle are shown above, as is a map showing Caesar’s big journey.

THANK YOU ALL so very much – Caesar would not have been recognized and recovered (in the nick of time!) were it not for the attentiveness, care, and concern of loving “dog people” like you!

CallieWe adopted Callie about 8 and a half years ago, just before you moved to the new shelter. She has been a wonderful addition to our family and we are so happy that we made the decision to adopt.

Sasha

A pet provides unconditional love to a household. Rescuing an animal from a shelter is a way to secure that love and give an animal another chance! I recently began volunteer work for the Hands On Northeast Ohio group. I was not sure what to expect from the dog shelter. The Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter impressed me! The dogs were well groomed, exercised, fed and appeared to be taken care of.

When I was walking down the aisle, I spotted a Husky mix, 4 year old girl named Sylvia or #11. I instantly feel in love. My husband and I went to the shelter to get a better idea of what type of dog she was the following weekend. She took to my husband quickly and in my heart I knew she would be our dog!

I fought for #11 by means of writing a letter to our apartment complex and asked for her to be adopted. Originally, I was told no, because of the extensive list of dogs that are “not allowed” on the property. However, I would not take no for a response. My letter went to the corporate office and then the phone call came! We were told Sylvia was adoptable and to go forth with the adoption. She officially became ours at the end of May.

#11 has become our Sasha and now sleeps in peace in her pink and brown bed with her toys. We are SO thankful to have saved her life and given her a second chance…she too is thankful and provides us with plenty of love, wet kisses and hand shakes!

ScruffyHi, I’m Scruffy (Champ). I was adopted 6-15-2010. I just wanted to share a picture of me and my new older sister Chloe who also was adoped from the Cuyahoga County Kennel in March of 2008. I’m having a great time playing with my sister, going for walks and sleeping in my bed at night. I’m slowly gaining some much needed weight from all the tasty treats im getting fed. I must say that I’m so glad to have a great home to live in, and be surrounded by people who love me.

BellaBella SleepingI adopted Bella on 5/28/2010 but she did not come home until 6/3/2010. We live in an big house split up into apt so we have an upstairs and downstairs. I gave her a small kennel downstairs and a larger bed upstairs. She loves her new home. She follows me everywhere, she is somewhat proctective, she is very obedient, she follow rules that I place. She can be stubborn at times but she does listen. She loves to cuddle and get massages on her back. She loves to run on her leash in the yard. We have so much fun together. She is my little buddie. She loves to ride in the car.. she is such a great dog. If I take a nap she goes to sleep too, how cute. She loves when I sing to her makes her happy.. she is my bella wella..lol! I am so happy she is apart of my life. I believe that she was ment to be my dog…:0))

Pandie

I am so happy that we adopted Pandie when we did. She is the happiest dog. She loves to play fetch and is super protective over me. Also she loves all the cats. She is just a big fur ball full of love. If we hadn’t adopted her my life would be alot less peaceful. She is there for me when I’m sad. I LOVE HER SO MUCH.

Primo

We brought Primo into our family over five years ago. He is simply the most wonderful boy … but we had a good feeling he would be from the moment he pressed his body sideways against the kennel bars for affection and more affection. He is a very sweet, obedient boy who makes us laugh each and every day and is a marvelous watchdog. His previous owner’s loss was surely our gain!!

Likes: Loads of affection and attention. Long walks and runs with his dad. His morning rub from his mom. More affection. Listening to all conversations with his head tilted to the side so he doesn’t miss anything. Eating. Visitors and all children. Lying in his fenced-in yard watching the world go by. Chasing rabbits and squirrels. Being smack in the middle of his mom and dad and protecting us. His daily routine. His other dog friends.

Dislikes: Baths and swimming. UPS men and meter readers. Intruders on his territory (till he knows they’re friendly). Having his muddy paws wiped. The vet. The basset mix down the street.

With the hot weather upon us, why not take a refreshing break and celebrate another Listener Lunch of the summer. Mix 106.5 is holding their second Listener Lunch this Thursday, July 15th from 10:30am until 1:30pm at the Star Plaza in Cleveland (located at East 14th and Euclid). Stop down for a free lunch, while supplies last, and check out the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter’s booth to see what awesome pooch is available for adoption!
